You'll Watch This One I Betcha

Out of Algeria, 2007 (most of the video was filmed in Spain). So, like, this takes on a whole new meaning when it's done in Algerian, no? I actually really like this. Give it a minute. Islam is a monolith anyone? I especially like watching the kids in the crowd. Whole. New. Meaning.

Welcome to the young people's roots of the Arab Spring...

Because, y'know... rock and roll will never die. And a Johnny Rotten reference as well!

I live for the weekends. 4 days of fun and music and nothing but fun and music, and I God bless ya for it. Oh wait... a Woodstock hippie flashback. Yeah. I'm old. Okay. Hey, I WAS HERE FOR THIS TOO!

The first was really cool - the second, love - I've seen Neil Young so many times I've lost count. I didn't even do the third - sorry. Jefferson Airplane gets on my last nerve, even though I can listen to them from time to time.

The third is a cultural reference point for me. When I think about it, I guess I've been through a lot of different shit.

The thing about it was that a lot of my friends from the 60's next went to disco while I went to punk. That explains a lot of things I'm thinkin. Not saying one way is good or bad, just... a cultural reference point.

Plus, in that first one? Ya gotta admit, that drummer has some mad percussion skilz.

That Clash cover was excellent. Thanks!

From your comment to Sybil, it's funny how people diverge. My Gia and I are the same age. Graduated from High School the same year. Grew up listening to The Beatles, The Who, The Stones, Led Zeppelin, etc..

But in the early 80's, my tastes went toward New Wave and then Punk. She went the Heavy Metal/Hair Metal way. It leads to interesting conversations.

A while back I was singing along to some really popular New Wave/alt-Punk tune from the late 80's. Forget what it was, hadn't heard it in forever, but I knew all the words. Halfway thru the song, I noticed Gia staring at me with this incredulous look. "How the hell do you know all the words to this song?" I shook my head and replied "How do you NOT know all the words to this song?" She had never heard it before. So weird.

We experience the 80's in a totally different way. Kinda cool we wound up with each other.
